What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy used to address traumatic memories and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Bilateral stimulation—alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps—is only one part of the complete EMDR protocol.

Who this tool is for

It is designed for adults using bilateral stimulation as agreed with a qualified psychotherapist, and for professionals conducting sessions. The tool provides visual and audio stimuli, but it does not deliver EMDR therapy on its own.

How to use it

  1. First discuss with your therapist whether this tool is suitable for you and agree on the settings.
  2. Choose the number of cycles or duration, trajectory, speed, and ball size. For audio stimulation, use stereo headphones at a comfortable volume.
  3. Press Start and follow the ball with your eyes without turning your head. Stop the session if you feel significant distress, dizziness, or disorientation.
